LASIK
The Illinois Eye Surgeons have been the leaders in refractive surgery in Southern Illinois for 25 years. We were the first to bring refractive laser surgery to the area, and are continually updating our equipment.
As of July 2011, the Illinois Eye Surgeons offer LASIK surgery on the new Alcon Wavelight Refractive Suite. This is the most advanced laser technology, and currently only available with the Illinois Eye Surgeons.
The first part of your treatment will be bladeless LASIK cuts on your cornea with the FS200 femtosecond laser. This is the quickest bladeless LASIK laser on the market. It also causes less pressure on the eye during its cuts, leading to more comfortable treatments. Corneal flaps cut with this laser are reported to be 1000 times as accurate as cuts made with a blade. Our own Dr. Sean Edelstein was the first in the St. Louis area and Southern Illinois to use this technology on a patient.
The second part of your treatment will be on the Allegreto Wave Eye-Q laser. With more accurate eye tracking and quick treatments, you can be assured your correction will be spot on.
