Dr. Waltman is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and has been in private practice since 1972. In 1989, he moved his practice from Barnes Hospital in St. Louis to the Green/Waltman Eye Institute in Belleville, which became part of Quantum Vision Centers in 2005.
Dr. Waltman earned his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then received his medical degree from the Yale University Medical School, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Waltman completed his internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and residency in ophthalmology at Washington University Medical Center, St Louis. He completed his residency in corneal disease at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. In May, 2000, Dr. Waltman received his MBA from Washington University, St. Louis.
From 1969 through 1970, Dr. Waltman was the Chief Resident Instructor in Ophthalmology at the Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis. Since 1972, Dr. Waltman has been an Assistant, Associate and Professor of Ophthalmology at the Washington University School of Medicine.
From 1972 thru 1989, he was the medical director of the St. Louis Eye Bank. Dr. Waltman is also a past president of the St Louis Ophthalmological Society.
