
RYAN M. TARANTOLA, M.D.
Ryan Tarantola, M.D., has recently joined Illinois Eye Surgeons. He is also a member of the faculty at Saint Louis University School of Medicine as an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology. A St. Louis native, Dr. Tarantola graduated from Washington University, earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, and completed a residency in ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University. He recently completed a 2 year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Iowa.
Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Tarantola is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Tarantola has clinical expertise in the management of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal diseases, retinal vascular occlusions, and uveitis. His surgical interests include vitrectomy surgery for retinal detachment repair, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and complications of diabetic retinopathy.
In addition to patient care and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Tarantola has multiple active research interests and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the ophthalmology literature.
